Heather Lorenzen

Senior Technical Specialist, Healthcare Performance

Heather Lorenzen is a seasoned humanitarian and global health leader with over two decades of experience at the nexus of clinical care, public health, policy, and program implementation. With a focus on crisis response, global health and sexual and reproductive health, Heather has championed equitable access to life-saving health services in some of the world’s most complex and fragile settings.


Heather has held key roles with organizations such as UNFPA, UNICEF, International Medical Corps, and Alight (formerly American Refugee Committee), leading initiatives to integrate SRH into disaster preparedness and response, strengthen public health systems, and promote rights-based, inclusive care delivery. Her work spans North, East and West Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, and the Caribbean, reflecting deep engagement with diverse health systems and humanitarian contexts.


In addition to her fieldwork, Heather is a published contributor to global standards and learning tools. She authored Sphere in Context and content for Assessment, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, as well as the 2019 Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for SRH in Emergencies Distance Learning and E-Learning Modules, among other publications.


Her unwavering commitment to reproductive justice and the dignity of women and girls continues to drive her efforts to build resilient, inclusive health systems that leave no one behind in humanitarian settings.
